Gunmen kidnap teacher, her 2 kids in Edo

There seems to be no end in sight to the spate
of kidnapping in Edo state following Monday’s
abduction of a female primary school teacher
and her two children in Ekpoma, Esan West
local government area.
This was just as anxiety is mounting over the
safety of a human right lawyer, Chief Mike
Ozekhome who has been in his captors den
since August 24.
The female teacher, Mrs. Queen Ogbodu, was
reportedly taken hostage by his abductors
while returning from work.
Sources said the tutor was a staff of Ile
primary School and was abducted on the first
day of resumption for the 2013/2014
academic session.
The state chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers
(NUT), Comrade Patrick Ikosimi, described the
incident as “sad.”
He expressed disbelief over the rising wave of
kidnapping in the state, adding: “In fact, the
day a teacher receives his salary, which is
when his trouble begins.”
When contacted, the state police image maker,
DSP, Moses Eguavoen, confirmed the incident,
saying that “full scale investigation into the
trio abduction had commenced.”
